Die Verfolgung von Musikerinnen und Musikern durch das NS-Regime hat massiv, dauerhaft und weltweit auf das immaterielle Kulturgut Musik eingewirkt. In Deutschland, ebenso wie in den annektierten und besetzten L\u00e4ndern kam es zu erheblichen Verlusten, im Exil aber auch zu produktiven Entwicklungen in allen Bereichen des Musiklebens. Ziel des Projektes ist eine Revision und Vervollstd\u00e4ndigung der Musikgeschichte mit Blick auf diese globalen Verwerfungen. Dabei geht es insbesondere um die Rekonstruktion des Beitrags NS-verfolgter Musikerinnen und Musiker zum Musikleben der Zwischenkriegszeit, die Erschlie\u00dfung des mit der Verfolgung und der Zwangsmigration verbundenen musikalischen Wirkens sowie die Analyse der Transferdynamik zwischen den Gefl\u00fcchteten und den Musikkulturen der Exill\u00e4nder mit Folgen bis in die Gegenwart.<\/p>\n

Das Projekt konzentriert sich auf Musikerinnen und Musiker, die aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum stammen. Reichhaltige, bisher nicht ausgesch\u00f6pfte Quellen, vor allem ungedruckte und archivalische Best\u00e4nde, sind noch zu erschlie\u00dfen. Die personenbezogenen Erkenntnisse daraus flie\u00dfen in das Lexikon verfolgter Musiker und Musikerinnen der NS-Zeit<\/a> (LexM) ein, das \u00fcber die Website der Universit\u00e4t Hamburg frei zug\u00e4nglich ist. Es umfasst derzeit (Stand Oktober 2026) rund 5.600 Lemmata sowie \u00fcber 1.000 ausf\u00fchrliche Artikel \u00fcber Musikerinnen und Musiker aus allen Berufssporten, die nach 1933 aus massenideologischen, politischen, religi\u00f6s-weltanschaulichen, kulturellen oder anderen Gr\u00fcnden verfolgt wurden und infolgedessen ins Exil gedr\u00e4ngt, deportiert oder in die Illegalit\u00e4t gezwungen wurden. Dieses derzeit wichtigste Forschungsinstrument zum Thema wird in das Projekt integriert und erweitert. Eine neu entwickelte Anwendung zur Visualisierung der LexM-Geodaten erm\u00f6glicht die explorative Analyse sowie die Identifikation struktureller Muster und r\u00e4umlicher Zusammenh\u00e4nge durch interaktive, datengetriebene Visualisierungs- und Analysemethoden. Darauf aufbauend werden in Teilprojekten \u00fcbergeordnete Themen untersucht, etwa einzelne Exill\u00e4nder, Berufsgruppen oder \u0152uvres. Die Forschungsergebnisse werden sowohl auf wissenschaftlichen Konferenzen als auch in k\u00fcnstlerisch-wissenschaftlichen Formaten wie Research Concerts einer breiteren \u00d6fffentlichkeit vorgestellt.<\/p>\n

Die Arbeitsstellen des Projekts befinden sich an der Universit\u00e4t Hamburg und der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater M\u00fcnchen. Das Projektarchiv der Hamburger Arbeitsstelle umfasst die digitalen und physischen Archive fr\u00fcherer Projekte am Musikwissenschaftlichen Institut der Universit\u00e4t Hamburg (Arbeitsgruppe Exilmusik, Lexikon verfolgter Musiker und Musikerinnen der NS-Zeit). Die M\u00fcnchner Arbeitsstelle kooperiert mit dem am Musikwissenschaftlichen Institut der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater M\u00fcnchen ans\u00e4ssigen Ben-Haim-Forschungszentrum, das ebenfalls ein Archiv umfasst. Das Langzeitvorhaben \u201aNS-Verfolgung und Musikgeschichte\u2018 geh\u00f6rt zum gemeinsam von Bund und L\u00e4ndern finanzierten
\nAkademieprogramm, das von der Union der deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften koordiniert wird. Das Projekt wird von der Akademie der Wissenschaften in Hamburg in Kooperation mit der Universit\u00e4t Hamburg und der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater M\u00fcnchen durchgef\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n
