The university is still reeling from yesterday’s events and we are saddened by them – nevertheless, we are returning to normal university life.

Our main building at Arcisstraße 12 is already open again today, Friday, 6.9.2024. The International ARD Music Competition is currently taking place there again.

From Monday, 9.9.2024, buildings C and D on the campus Arcisstraße will also be open again. The offices and classrooms can be used again.

The locations Luisenstr. 37a, Wilhelmstr. 19, Gasteig HP8, Prinzregententheater (Theaterakademie August Everding) and Notinterim Frankenthaler Str. 23 were not affected by the closure.

All events and conferences at the weekend and in the coming week will take place.

A further note to students, staff and lecturers at our university: Please make use of the appropriate support services if required.

+++ Message 5.9.2024, 1:30 PM +++

We are deeply shocked – shots were fired today in the immediate vicinity of the main building of our university near the NS Documentation Center and the Israeli Consulate General. An armed man was shot dead by the police. The situation is currently under control and everyone at the university is safe and well. We sympathise with all those affected and would like to thank the Munich police for their level-headed response.

The Campus Arcisstraße will remain closed today and the international ARD competition, which was due to take place at the university today, will not take place.

We will inform you here when we reopen the Campus Arcisstraße.
