Vocal and Theatre Performance

Institute 3

At our Institute for Vocal Studies and Theatre Performance, our students receive excellent and practical training in the areas of Stage Directing, Bachelor of Vocal Studies and Master of Vocal Studies Concert Singing, Song Interpretation and Music Theatre / Opera Performance.

In Vocal Studies, our teachers place great emphasis on the scenic-musical training of the students. In the Bachelor degree course, students in the vocal classes work on a large opera project under realistic theatre conditions every year as part of our Opera School, with performances in the »Musiktheater im Reaktor« series. In the Opera School’s education programme, the »Opernbus«, they practice performing in small, flexible formats and different spaces.

After the Bachelor degree course, our students can continue their education in a Master degree course:

  • The Master degree course in Vocal Studies: Music Theatre / Opera Performance takes place in cooperation with the Theaterakademie August Everding and prepares students for professional practice on the opera stages of the world. The »learning theatre« of the Theaterakademie offers excellent conditions for this.
  • The Master degree course in Vocal Studies: Song Interpretation  enables young art song duos to work together in order to comprehensively develop their knowledge of the repertoire and their ability to interpret it.
  • The Master degree course in Vocal Studies: Concert Singing focuses on the interpretation of soloist roles on concert stages.
  • Training in Stage Directing takes place in cooperation with the Theaterakademie August Everding.
