Studying at the Institute

As a discipline concerned with the study of music, its development, impact and significance throughout history and in the present day, musicology forms an integral part of the artistic, music education and teacher training programmes at the HMTM. Through seminars, lectures and artistic-academic projects, students acquire the knowledge and skills required for an academically grounded engagement with music, which is always closely linked to artistic practice. Another key focus is the field of Music Mediation (Musikvermittlung). There is also the opportunity to pursue a PhD in Musicology.
