University Elections

Elections are held regularly at our university. All members of our university are entitled to vote for their various groups. A wide range of involvement is important for our university democracy. Therefore: get involved, go and vote and/or put yourself forward as a candidate for election. Your vote counts!

The next university elections will take place in June 2024, when the representatives for the Student Council and the student representatives in the Senate will be newly elected.

Important dates for the 2024 university elections at a glance:

  • Candidates can put themselves forward for election until Friday, 17 May (4 pm)
  • 22 May: Announcement of the candidates
  • Election from 17 June 2024, 12:00 noon, to 24 June 2024, 12:00 noon, exclusively as an online election via the POLYAS election portal

The student council is involved in all important processes at our university and is in close contact with the university management. It is approachable for all students and is committed to improving the study conditions at our university in the interests of the students.

Until this year, decisions on study grants, i.e. the financial resources that our university is authorised to use exclusively to promote the quality of students’ education, were made by the General Study Grants Commission. Student representatives were also elected to this committee every year. From the summer semester 2024, these funds will be administered exclusively by the study grant commissions of the institutes, half of which are made up of students and half of lecturers from the respective institute. There will therefore be no election of the General Study Grant Commission as part of the university elections.

All information – election notice, election notification and access data for the online election – will be sent exclusively to the official HMTM e-mail addresses in the run-up to the election. Please check your university accounts for this.
