At its meeting on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, the University Council elected Prof. Dorte Lena Eilers and Prof. Isabelle Sévers as Vice Presidents. As a result, the university administration now consists of the President and the Chancellor as well as a total of four Vice Presidents. Like Prof. Markus Bellheim and Prof. Klaus Mohr, the term of office of Prof. Dorte Lena Eilers and Prof. Isabelle Sévers runs until 30 September 2027.
Prof. Dorte Lena Eilers takes over the departments Diversity and Research in the university administration:
»Over the past few years, I have experienced HMTM as a place of change: how do we want to work, communicate and teach? For me, these questions are not just of an institutional nature. They concern our society as a whole. Art creates encounters between people who differ in the way they look at the world, but who feel connected for moments at a concert or in the theatre. An experience that is more important than ever in our disruptive present. As Vice President for Diversity and Research, I am delighted to be able to help shape this art of togetherness at HMTM.«
Prof. Dorte Lena Eilers has been Professor of Arts and Cultural Journalism since May 2022, during which time she has developed the degree programme of the same name and introduced it for the 2023/2024 academic year. The course is based at the Institute for Arts Management and Media and is run in cooperation with the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding. Since October 2023, she has been the Representatives for Equality for Women in the Arts and Sciences at HMTM. She is stepping down from this role when she takes up her position as Vice President.
Prof. Dorte Lena Eilers has many years of experience as a cultural journalist, publicist and presenter. From 2020 to 2021, she was editor-in-chief of the specialist magazine ‘Theater der Zeit – Zeitschrift für Theater und Politik’. She specialises in the performing arts and music at the interface of social, political, philosophical and scientific discourse.
Prof. Isabelle Sévers takes over the Teaching Development department in the university administration:
»I have been engaged in the further development of the Ballet Academy for several years. Now I would like to use the skills I have acquired there at university administration level to prepare students in the best possible way for the current requirements of the various professional fields. I view the position of Vice President for Teaching Development and the associated tasks with great respect and at the same time look forward to the new challenges.«
