We are honest: living space in Munich is scarce and expensive. But our university has a number of halls of residence and room allotments that are given priority to our students. You can also regularly apply for a place in a hall of residence at the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern (Student Services).
The universtiy has 181 places in these halls of residence. The Notburga-/Volksgartenstraße residence is administered by the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern. Further information on the Notburga-/Volksgartenstraße residence hall and how to apply can be found here: https://www.studierendenwerk-muenchen-oberbayern.de/en/accommodation/halls-of-residence/munich/southwest-munich/halls-of-residence-notburga-volksgartenstrasse/
The hall of residence in Ismaninger Straße (Ismaninger Straße 2 and 4, 81675 Munich) is managed by our university itself. The hall of residence has 44 rooms. Of these, 16 rooms are in house no. 2 and 28 rooms in house no. 4.
The rooms are shared flats of three to four single rooms (each individually lockable) with 21-36 square metres of gross living space. The shared rooms such as kitchen, bathroom and hallway are included in this figure. For the net living space, you have to deduct approx. 7-9 sqm per room. There are washing machines and bicycle storage facilities in the basement. Only the flats on the 1st floor are off limits. There is no lift. The windows are soundproof windows.
The rents here are between €350 and €420, depending on the living space, and three net monthly rents are payable as a deposit. In addition to the guarantee and self-disclosure, the guarantors must submit three current salary and wage statements or proof of pension.
You can apply online for a place in one of the halls of residence of the Studierendenwerk.
