Exchange and networking at national and international level are an important part of the Ballet Academy at the HMTM. Cooperation always serves to enhance the quality of education , support students – especially with regard to starting their careers – or promote professional networking and further development of the Ballet Academy as one of the leading state educational institutions for professional stage dance.
When Konstanze Vernon established her foundation in 1978 in memory of her dance partner, the exceptional Munich dancer Heinz Bosl, who had passed away at a young age, her stated goal was to give talented young dancers the opportunity to develop artistically and to facilitate their entry into the profession. To this end, as a professor of dance, she also professionalised the study opportunities at the HMTM.
Konstanze Vernon headed the HMTM’s ballet academy until 2005.
Since its inception, the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung has been a key partner of the Ballet Academy. It awards scholarships to members of the Bavarian Junior Company Munich and rents accommodation to students of the Ballet Academy. It provides the members of the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich with rehearsal and training facilities, costumes and music. It organises the Bosl Matinees, commissions choreographers and facilitates numerous projects that give the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich extensive stage experience.

As a joint initiative for young professional dancers, the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung, the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Ballet Academy of the HMTM founded the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich in 2010. Together, they run this junior company.
In addition to this central cooperation, the close collaboration between the Ballet Academy of the HMTM and the Bayerisches Staatsballett extends to other areas. For example, students in the Bachelor’s programme in dance join the corps de ballet of the Bayerisches Staatsballett as needed.

In 2010, the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich was founded on the initiative of the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung, the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Ballet Academy of the HMTM under the name »Junior Company«. This made the BJBM the first and largest junior company in Germany. At the interface between university education and career entry, volunteers from the Bayerisches Staatsballett and students of the Ballet Academy (in the postgraduate course study course) have since been given the opportunity to develop further and continue their careers consistently in this ensemble.
The young dancers also perform nationally and internationally as part of guest performances.

The Ballet Academy is a partner school of the Prix de Lausanne, one of the most prestigious competitions for young international talent, which takes place annually in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Since 2010, the Ballet Academy has been a member of the dance education conference (AK|T). The AK|T is a working group comprising all federal dance education institutions in Germany. Its goal is to strengthen professional dance education in Germany (bachelor’s, master’s and diploma programmes/stage maturity examination).
The dance education conference actively participates in discussions on the educational situation in dance, represents common interests at the national level, intensifies cooperation while sharpening the profile of individual educational institutions, and networks with other international partners.
Every two years, the AK|T organises the dance education biennale. This is where students and teachers meet to strengthen the next generation of stage dancers and promote professional exchange between dance education institutions. In February 2024, the dance education biennale took place in Munich for the first time and was dedicated to the topic of role models and ideals (see HMTM announcement, in German).
