Would you like to gain experience abroad, broaden your horizons, immerse yourself in another culture and improve your language skills? A stay abroad with Erasmus+ offers you the opportunity to develop artistically, academically and personally.
Erasmus+ provides you with organizational and financial support for your stay abroad, whether for study purposes, research or an internship. Students can be supported several times (in each study phase: Bachelor, Master, doctorate) for up to 12 months.
All EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, the Republic of North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey participate in the Erasmus+ program.
The internal application is made by submitting the Erasmus+ application (download PDF here) by December 15 for the academic year 2025/26, the winter semester 2025/26 and the summer semester 2026.
In addition, you must then apply to the respective universities of your choice. You will receive further information on this at the beginning of January.
Applicants will be selected on the basis of their academic performance, and for artistic degree programs on the basis of the audio/video files or their compositional work. A study place can only be expected if the teaching staff have free capacity.
The financial support from Erasmus+ is based on the different living costs in the program countries. The following funding rates currently apply (project 2024):
The Erasmus+ scholarship can be combined with Bafög. You can find more information about the Auslands-Bafög on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Learning Agreement
The Learning Agreement is your »course contract« and contains all the courses you would like to take at the host university. The Learning Agreement also contains information on the recognition of your credits abroad. The Learning Agreement must be completed and signed before your departure.
Language test and language course
Before your stay abroad, you must take a language test in the language of the country or working language. The language test must be taken online via OLS (Online Language Support). Following the test, you can attend one (or more) language courses free of charge.
The result of the test has no influence on your application or funding.
Leave of absence
We recommend that you take a leave of absence for the duration of your stay abroad. You can find the application form and deadlines under Studies > Studying > Leave of absence.
Insurance and finding accommodation
You are responsible for finding accommodation in the host country in good time and ensure that you have adequate insurance cover during your stay abroad.
Changes to the course schedule
If there are any changes to your selected courses at the beginning of your stay abroad, you must write these in the Learning Agreement within five weeks of arrival.
Confirmation of arrival
After arriving in your destination country, the Certificate of Arrival (download PDF here) must be signed by the host university and sent to HMTM’s International Office. It serves as the basis for the payment of the first scholarship installment.
