With the goal of successful system accreditation, the university has developed a quality management system in recent years that suits the university and its specifics. This includes, above all, not only reflecting on and optimising processes, but also developing some of them for the first time, as well as defining and establishing structures and responsibilities in order to make everyday work easier and create transparency. The university’s efforts to implement its quality management system in everyday life are fundamentally dependent on the culture of dialogue among all those involved, because it is only through this that the system can (further) develop and come to life. Process descriptions and procedures cannot replace the culture of dialogue, but they can act as signposts for how to proceed. In this sense, the university’s quality management is seen as a learning, constantly developing system that lives through responsibility, trust in its own framework, participation and dialogue.
The University of Music and Theatre Munich has been system-accredited since 8 November 2022. The assessment was carried out by a group of reviewers commissioned by ZEvA (Zentrale Evaluations- und Akkreditierungsagentur (Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency) in Hanover), and the decision was then made by the ZEvA Commission (ZeKO). With the system accreditation, the university receives the right to award the seal of the Accreditation Council itself for the degree courses and programmes it has independently examined.
