Based on our Pedagogical Concept, it is important to us at the Ballet Academy to develop effective ways of dealing with special situations, complaints and problems and to establish a comprehensive feedback culture.
All members of the Ballet Academy are open to expectations, suggestions and complaints from students, parents and guardians, colleagues and external professionals. All those involved are encouraged to express their opinions and wishes.
The Ballet Academy has numerous committees and contact points for advice, complaints and feedback of all kinds. These are described in more detail here.
In cases where consultations or complaints are to be treated confidentially, those affected should first contact the HMTM’s central counselling services: https://hmtm.de/en/respect-and-trust/counselling-centres/
In particular, the university’s confidants offer support to all members of the university in conflict situations. The group of confidants expands the HMTM’s internal and free support services by offering the opportunity to hold confidential discussions with members of the student body, administration and teaching staff. The list of confidants can be found here: https://hmtm.de/en/respect-and-trust/counselling-centres/
It is also possible to submit official complaints to the university management. All information can be found here: https://hmtm.de/en/respect-and-trust/formal-complaint/
The governing body consists of the Artistic Director, the Managing Director and other members of the Ballet Academy teaching staff. The members of the governing body are appointed on the recommendation of the university administration.
The governing body decides on all fundamental matters concerning the Ballet Academy. The functions include:
The Health Team consists of contact persons for dance medicine, nutritional advice and mental health. The members of the Health Team advise and support the students and are also available to answer questions from parents and guardians.
Their work is based on the Ballet Academy’s Health Policy.
Tutors can be students of the Ballet Academy or older students from other degree programmes. The tutors are available to students of the Ballet Academy
The legal guardians of students from the junior programme are regarded as important partners in the educational work with young students. To promote optimal cooperation between the Ballet Academy and legal guardians, a parents’ council is elected once a year. The parents’ council should consist of at least two spokespersons and two deputies. Parents’ council meetings are held regularly.
