The Ballet Academy at HMTM is the only state-run educational institution for professional stage dance in Bavaria. The aim of the course is to encourage students to become independent, open-minded and creative artists, preparing them for a career in classical and contemporary dance. Today’s dancers are not only required to be interpreters, but also to be choreographic co-creators in the artistic process. For this reason, the Ballet Academy places particular emphasis on the development of creativity and artistic expression in its Bachelor’s degree course, in addition to daily dance training.

In addition, during their studies, the dancers acquire important foundations that enable them to transfer the skills they have acquired to other disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields through additional qualifications or a second degree, and to later work in areas such as dance education, choreography, physical training, dance studies, dance mediation, and more.

The Ballet Academy supports its students on this journey by creating a challenging yet inspiring and nurturing learning environment. Teachers and students work hand in hand, striving to provide a holistic and sustainable dance education in line with the Pedagogical Concept and Health Policy, while maintaining high technical standards.
