Biography

Anna Beke studied theatre studies, modern German literature and philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and stage dance at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. From 2006 to 2017, she worked in dramaturgy and education at the Bavarian State Ballet. Today, she is a lecturer in dance history at the Ballet Academy of the University of Music and Theatre Munich, where she was curator of the symposium »Dance Education in Transition« (Nov. 2022).

Since 2018, Anna Beke has been a research associate at the Chair of Art Education at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Here, she was the curator of the exhibition »Bauhaus für alle!« (Jewish Museum Franconia, 2021) and is currently the editor of the publication »Bauhaus im Kontext von Erinnerungskultur« (Bauhaus in the Context of Remembrance Culture). Beke is also a lecturer in theatre studies at LMU Munich and appears as a juror, including for the 2022 Munich City Council’s Dance Award.

In addition to her work as a dramaturge (Dance festival »Dance First«, Fürstenfeldbruck) and dance journalist (tanznetz.de), she works as an expert for the German Dance Association e.V. (DTD). She has repeatedly taken on the choreographic direction of educational formats, including for theBavarian State Ballet, the Bavarian State Opera and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
