20. May ’26

On Monday 18 May 2026, a large number of students from the HMTM were honoured at the annual »Stipendienabend«. On this occasion, the scholarship holders were each awarded various scholarships, including those from the Orlandus Lassus Foundation, the Elisabeth Schwarzhaupt Foundation and the Stiftung Offene Chancen.

Deutschlandstipendien were also awarded. This year, 94 students received a Deutschlandstipendium. Students who receive these scholarships are distinguished by their exceptional talent and outstanding achievements in the artistic, educational or academic fields. In addition, they demonstrate a commitment to social, community and sustainability issues.

Overall, thanks to a wide range of student support schemes, the HMTM is now able to support over 280 students in the 2025/26 academic year. Several foundations have recently increased their funding, and additional scholarships have also been awarded.

This funding provides vital support for students, particularly in a city like Munich, and makes it easier for scholarship recipients to focus on their studies and their commitments. The scholarship recipients spoke about this in short interviews during this year’s Stipendienabend. In particular, they spoke of the positive impact the funding has had on their studies, as well as the special projects they have been able to carry out as a result.

The scholarship evening was accompanied by a musical programme performed by the students. With works by Benjamin Britten, Dorothea Hofmann, Viktor Ullmann and Sam Rivers, the musicians showcased the diversity of their work and created an inspiring and festive atmosphere.

Following the organised programme, the participants had the opportunity to chat informally and get to know one another at a reception.
