Biography

Claus Raible is one of the distinctive pianists, composers, and bandleaders on the international jazz scene. For more than three decades, he has combined rhythmic energy, harmonic sophistication, and improvisational freedom to create a singular musical voice. His formative years in New York beginning in 1995 and his collaborations with musicians including Ben Dixon, Jon Faddis, Brad Leali, Andy Bey, Jimmy Cobb, Benny Golson, Jesse Davis, and Ed Thigpen have profoundly shaped both his artistic path and his international stature. Today, he is active internationally with his own projects, ranging from trio and quintet to orchestra.

As an educator, Raible has led workshops and clinics and taught piano and arranging in Europe, the United States, and beyond. His teaching engagements have included institutions in Switzerland, Serbia, Japan, South Korea and USA. From 2005 to 2009, he served as Visiting Professor of Jazz Piano and Lecturer in Jazz Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Since 2008, he has been a faculty member in the Jazz Department at the University of Music and Theatre Munich.
