The talent programme of the HMTM Young Academy supports musically highly talented children and young people from the age of 6 until they leave school. The talent programme includes fortnightly lessons in the main artistic subject (in addition to lessons with the previous teacher), a fortnightly Saturday programme (singing, music theory and ear training courses, youth lectures), courses and profile workshops (in the artistic and artistic-educational fields) as well as concerts and ensemble projects.
Admission to the Talent Programme is only possible in the winter semester. The passing of an aptitude test is required for admission.
At the moment, the following instruments or vocal training are offered in the talent programme:
Accordion, Composition, Conducting, Dulcimer, Harp, Historical instruments, Jazz, Keyboard instruments, Orchestra instruments, Percussion, Recorder, Singing, String instruments and Zither.

The main subject lessons are individually arranged.
Saturday lessons always take place on Saturdays between 9:30 AM and 12:45 PM.
Workshops and additional events will be communicated.
The Talent Programme always begins in the winter semester. The requirement for starting the programme is passing the aptitude test. You must enrol before starting the programme.

To be accepted into the talent programme at our university, you must pass an aptitude test. The basic requirement is above-average ability on your instrument or in singing.
The application requires
a) a »professional assessment« by a specialist such as the current music teacher, the head of a music school, a university lecturer, etc.
or
b) proof of winning a 1st prize in the »Jugend musiziert« competition.

There is a specific aptitude test for the talent programme: It will take place in June 2025 at the University of Music and Theatre Munich.
Programme of the aptitude test: Two pieces of your choice.
You must register online for the aptitude test by the deadline.
The fees for the Talent Programme amount to 100 euros per semester (this already includes the semester contribution of the Studierendenwerk).
Exemption from this fee is not possible. There is a support programme for socially disadvantaged students and families. If you have any questions, please contact youngacademy@hmtm.de

On Saturday, 25 October 2025, there will be an Open Music Day for all interested parties.
Students who are already studying in the talent programme must re-register for each new semester within the regular deadline. The fees will also be transferred then.
When re-registering for the winter semester, a current school certificate must be submitted.
