Classical ballet studies at the HMTM Ballet Academy are based on the Vaganova method. Konstanze Vernon (dance professor, prima ballerina and director of the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Ballet Academy, as well as founder and director of the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung) played a key role in establishing this system in Bavaria. The Ballet Academy was thus the first German ballet training centre to base its teaching on the Vaganova method.

Today, of course, other pedagogical approaches and modern dance techniques are also taught. The Ballet Academy strives to pass on the classical ballet tradition while at the same time exposing students to further facets and impulses from the diverse world of stage dance.
