Melis Çom has been studying on the Master’s programme in Contemporary Music under Prof. Cristina Bianchi since 2021. From 2019 to 2021, she studied the harp as her principal subject, also under Prof. Cristina Bianchi at the HMTM, and graduated with a Master of Music with top marks. Melis Çom began her training at the Conservatoire of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. In 2012, she spent a year at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris. Melis Çom lives in Munich as a freelance harpist and performs with, amongst others, the Münchner Symphoniker, the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Ensemble Hartmann21 and the Ensemble Musikfabrik.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been honouring international students with the DAAD prize for more than ten years. According to the DAAD, the prize is intended to help »put a face to the large numbers of international students at German universities and link them to personal stories«.
