Marlen Schumann

Marlen Schumann first studied dance education at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, then dance and choreography at the ArtEZ Dansacademie in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Alongside her work as a freelance dancer, dance educator and choreographer, she trained in systemic counselling and as a fitness and athletic trainer, and completed further training in sports physiotherapy. Since 2021, Marlen Schumann has been working on a freelance basis with various dance companies in the fields of injury prevention and training, and worked for the Medical School Hamburg on the »Behind the Curtain« Dancers’ Health Study, led by Dr Anja Hauschild. She offers one-to-one coaching for artists in the performing arts and music, and until February 2026 she was also Health Coordinator and lecturer on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Dance at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. Since 15 July 2026, she has been working at the HMTM as Arts and Health Coordinator.
