Sayaka Matsunaga began playing the piano at the age of seven. During her youth, she discovered a deep passion for the harpsichord and began formal studies on the instrument at the age of sixteen. After graduating from high school, she was admitted to the class of Prof. Naoya Otsuka at the Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2018, she continued her studies at the University of Music and Theatre Munich under Prof. Christine Schornsheim. She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with distinction. Following her graduate studies, she further specialized in the fortepiano, also under the guidance of Prof. Schornsheim.
Sayaka Matsunaga regularly performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and with various ensembles and orchestras. In addition to her performing career, she is active as a répétiteur. Her passion for music education is reflected in her teaching of piano and harpsichord. She currently works as a harpsichord répétiteur at the University of Music and Theatre Munich.
