This Maag

This Maag, born in Lucerne (Switzerland) in 1971, studied acting at the Ernst Busch University of Theatre Arts Berlin from 1995 to 1999. He has been working internationally as a street performer since 1986 – specialising in clowning, improvisation, juggling and slapstick – and performs at numerous festivals worldwide. His stage career has taken him to renowned theatres, including the Schaubühne Berlin, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Theaterhaus Jena and the Staatstheater Schwerin. He also works regularly in film and television.

Since 2024, This Maag has been a permanent teacher in acting at the »Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding«. His teaching focuses on biomechanics and Meyerhold’s Theory of movement, as well as clowning and slapstick – an approach that combines artistic practice with systematic physical training. He also regularly lectures at the Ernst Busch University of Theatre Arts Berlin and at the Universities of music and theatre in Hannover, Hamburg and Leipzig.
