Rafael Adobas Bayog awarded DAAD prize 2023

Rafael Adobas Bayog began his training at the state-run Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. Whilst studying for his Bachelor’s degree, he first came to the HMTM in 2017 as an ERASMUS student, where he studied in the classes of Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht and Natalie Schwaabe (Piccolo). Following his Bachelor’s degree, he went on to study for a Master’s degree, which he completed in 2023 with top marks. At the same time, he began a Bachelor’s degree in Traverso in 2022 in the class of Marion Treupel-Franck.

The DAAD scholarship holder made his debut as early as 2022 at Carnegie Hall in New York with a recital of his own compositions. As a soloist, he has performed with the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Münchner Kammerorchester, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and the Odense Symphony Orchestra. Further engagements have taken him to Korea, Spain and Japan.

For more than 10 years, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been awarding the DAAD prize annually to international students in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and exceptional social commitment. The prize is valued at 1.000 euros, and each university selects its own winner.
