Simon Mack studied Teacher Training in Music Education, Music Theory, Ear Training and Jazz Piano at the University of Music and Theatre Munich (HMTM). After working at the University of Augsburg and the University of Osnabrück, he most recently held the position of Senior Lecturer in Music Theory and Ear Training at the Mozarteum University Salzburg (Innsbruck campus). At the HMTM, he also taught Practical Piano Playing at School.

At the interface between artistic composition and music education, Mack repeatedly addresses social issues. For example, in the »Ballermann Project« which he initiated on YouTube, he reflects on the concert business and ironically questions traditional programme design. In connection with this project, Mack also received commissions from the Heidelberger Frühling Liedzentrum and the Staatstheater Augsburg. His classical arrangements of mood hits were performed, among others, in concerts by the Rundfunkchor Berlin, at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater.

Simon Mack was awarded the Maria Ladenburger Prize for Music and the Jazz Prize of the City of Ingolstadt. During his studies, he was a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk. He is a founding member and secretary of the association «Musicians for a better life e.V.», for which the HMTM acts as patron. The association implements social music projects in Germany, Romania and Tanzania, often in close cooperation with the HMTM.
