Wavelab

The Wavelab is the innovation lab and start-up centre of the University of Music and Theatre Munich for experiments and ventures at the interface of Music, Arts & Media with new technologies.

The Wavelab officially started its work in November 2020 at the Institute for Arts Management and Media at the University of Music and Theatre with a first event. Our university is thus the first European university to combine the topics of management and entrepreneurship in the cultural and creative industries with developments in digitalisation. The Wavelab is aimed at interested students and graduates from the fields of music, art, performing arts, film and media as well as new technologies. The aim is to encourage start-ups in the arts, culture and entertainment sector that make use of developments in digitisation and to support them through workshops, coaching and mentoring. The focus is primarily on technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), data sciences and the Internet of Things (IoT).
