Lorenz Adamer

Lorenz Adamer studied musicology and philosophy in Vienna, Pavia/Cremona and Tübingen. His master’s theses focused on Zemlinsky’s opera »Der Traumgörge« and on Plato’s tripartite division of the soul from a music-theoretical perspective. As part of the SFB 1391 »Andere Ästhetik« research network, he was awarded a PhD in 2023 at the University of Tübingen for his research on bathing and health resort music of the early modern period. His research interests range from the music of antiquity and its reception, through the music of the early modern period, to musical trends and developments of the early 20th century. He is particularly interested in interdisciplinary perspectives that combine musicology and philosophy, as well as in questions relating to aesthetics and the sociology of music. He has gained professional experience in music publishing, as a music journalist and librarian, and as a lecturer specialising in project management and academic research methods. Since April 2025, he has been a research associate on the DFG project »Jüdisches Musikleben in Bayern 1930–1950. Topographie, Inventar, Aufführungsdatenbank«.
